Dicing with Health

Cam Hopton Primary School

The exciting new board game for children teaching the risks, consequences, decisions and chance factors related to health as well as some medical facts and plenty of laughs!

The game was designed and manufactured by a group of 6th formers from Rednock School (see 'about us' page) with the help of winning £4600 from the Big Boost Lottery Funds for young people (many thanks to the Scarman Trust).

The story so far...

Once the manufacturing of the game was complete, we took it for a 'trial run' at Cam Hopton Primary School as shown in the photos. The children responded fantastically and we received a lot of positive comments such as 'it was better than normal school'!
Overall the game proved exciting and informative with all 28 children coming away with new knowledge.

...and to have fun!

Once the game had proved successful, we publicised the game in the local newspaper and held a launch night at Rednock School, Dursley. A wide range of people turned up to view and trial the game including members of the Gloucestershire Education Authority and superior members of staff from Rednock. Children were invited to demonstrate the game in action, and various adults joined in the fun. Overall winners on the night were Chaz and Steph - congratulations!
With photos on display, the chance to attempt some facts4life puzzles, and a huge table of refreshments, the night was a definite success!

Cam Everlands Primary School

The next primary school to experience the giant board game was Cam Everlands. We worked with a group of 31 10-year old children and came away feeling we'd achieved a lot. Some comments included:
'Thank you for a fantastic afternoon. The children really enjoyed themselves and the game is especially appealing with its bright colours and hands-on approach. You were all very professional and the children responded well to your confidence and their behaviour indicates you earned their respect. From their good behaviour and obvious engagement, I have no doubt they all learned something about keeping healthy.'
The winning team were the 'Terminators' - congratulations!
